DESCRIPTION

BULB: white, ovoid, 25-30 x 20-28 mm.

BESCHREIBUNG

LEAVES: 5-8-whorled, narrowly lanceolate to elliptic, 45-110 x 10-30 mm, margin sometimes conspicuously papillose

Blätter: 5-8-quirlig, schmal-lanzettlich bis elliptisch, 45-110 x 10-30 mm, Rand manchmal deutlich papillös.

FLOWERS: 1-4, nodding. Tepals white or tinged pale pink abaxially; outer ones blotched purple-red, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, 40-50 x 10-25 mm, margin entire; inner ones spotted or mainly in distal part blotched purple-red, ovate to elliptic, 40-50 x 10-30 mm, margin erose-serrate; nectary processes 2, of low ridges of tissue arranged in a fan shape. Filaments swollen, cylindric, 6-7 mm, and fleshy proximally, abruptly narrowed to a filiform, 2-2.5 mm long portion distally. Style 7-9 mm. Capsule oblong-ovoid. Flowering time . Jun-Jul, fruits Aug-Sep. 2 n = 24

Blüten: 1-4, hängend. Tepalen weiss oder blass pink aussenseitig; äussere purpurrot gefleckt, elliptisch bis oval-elliptisch, 40-50 x 10-25 mm, ganzrandig; innere gepunktet oder an der Basis mit pupurrotem Fleck, oval bis elliptisch , 40-50 x 10-30 mm, Rand fransig-gezahnt; 2 Nektarienfortsätze bestehend aus 2 schmalen Kanten, die einen Fächer bilden. Filamente verdickt, zylindrisch, 6-7 mm, fleischig an Basis, dann abrupt fädig verschmälert, dort 2-2,5 mm lang. Stylum ~10 mm. Kapsel länglich-oval. Blütezeit Juni-Juli, Reife Aug-Sept. 2n=24.

ORIGIN: China (Sichuan, SE Xizang, NW Yunnan). Abies forests, broad-leaved forests, forest margins, grassy slopes; 2800--4000 m.

Herkunft: China (Sichuan, SE Xizang, NW Yunnan). Abies(=Tannen)-Wälder, Laubwälder, Waldränder, grasige Hänge; 2800-4000 m.

PECULIARITIES: According to recent DNA analyses (Nishikawa et al.), N. aperta (and, in consequence, also the other Nomocharis species) seems to be so closely related to the Genus Lilium that a fusion of the two genera seems to be appropriate.

BESONDERHEITEN: Aufgrund neuerer DNA-Analysen (Nishikawa et al.) scheint N. aperta (und daher auch die anderen Nomocharis-Arten) so nahe mit Lilium verwandt, dass eine Zusammenlegung der Gattung angebracht erscheint.

CULTURE NOTES: All Nomocharis species are definitely not for the "beginner"! They need plenty of moisture, especially during growing season, light shade, a moist, cool, humus rich, acidic compost and high athmosperic humidity. Not very hardy, -10°C might be the temperatruer minimum they tolerate.

KULTURHINWEISE: Alle Nomocharis-Arten sind nicht für "Anfänger" geeignet! Sie benötigen ausreichend Wasser, vor allem in der Wachstumszeit, lichten Schatten, einen feuchten, kühlen, humosen, sauren Boden sowie hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit. Nicht sehr winterhart, -10°C scheint die Toleranzgrenze zu sein.
